Puerto Viejo is located near Limon on the Southern Caribbean Coast of Costa Rica (very close to the Panama Border. Don't go to the other Puerto Viejo, Sarapiqui).
Pedro's Place is located just northwest of town at Playa Negra (Black Beach), away from the main road and traffic. Click here for an excellent area map which shows our location.
Susana is our property manager. Her phone number is 2750-0519 when calling from anywhere in Costa Rica.
On arrival, she will be there to greet you and orient you to the house and area.

Coming from San Jos&eacture;
To get through San Jose the best thing to do is to ask your car rental agency or hotel for directions to Route 32 to Limon. You can also hale a cab driver and ask to follow them to Route 32 for $10. This will save you a lot of time if you get lost instead of driving around.
Take Route 32 out of San Jose for about 3 hours to the city of Limon. Before you get to Limon you will see a sign for Route 36 to Puerto Viejo.
Turn right on Route 36 and travel for about 45 minutes until you come to a "Y" in the road. Route 36 turns to the right and a sign will direct you straight to Puerto Viejo. Take this road for about 10 minutes until you see the ocean straight ahead.
Right before you get to the ocean there is a road that only goes to the left. There is a small grocery store on the right and a bus stop shelter on the left at this intersection. This is our street.
Turn left. There is a row of about 8 houses on the right side and Pedro's Place is the last house on the right before the road curves to the right. Look for our gate (picture on the left).
A 4WD vehicle is not necessary to reach us but you might appreciate it when exploring the area if you get off the beaten track.
Detailed driving directions for the route to Puerto Viejo including an alternative route are available here.
By direct public bus: leaves daily from Terminal del Caribe at 8 am, 10 am, 12 noon, 2 pm & 4 pm. The bus trip from San Jose takes 4 to 5 hours. Cost is about $9. Full information on the bus and schedules can be found on the bus transport page on www.PuertoViejoSatellite.com which also has a wealth of local information on the area.
Although we are located before town, we recommend going all the way into town and taking a taxi the 2 kms back to our place, especially if you are coming in late. Tell the taxi driver to head toward ''Playa Negra'' and to turn right at Pen's Bar. There is a row of about 8 houses on the right side and Casa Fiesta is next to the last house on the right before the road curves to the right. We have a chain link fence and gate at the entrance of our driveway. The sign on our fence says Pedro's Place.

Shuttle door to door service: Interbus and several other shuttle companies operating on a scheduled minibus service with A/C which will pick you up in San Jose or Arenal (right from your hotel) and bring you directly here.
